Photo shoots are huge in the boutique world, so we are trying to get better with that. We have decorated for fall at our little shop, so I asked my daughter to come and help me get some cute pictures of the fall arrivals we have received. She agreed without much fuss, after all she is a college student so she was thinking of making a few dollars. She does not like modeling, and I am not the best picture taker so most of the time it does not go well.
Today was a great day we comprised and all went smoothly. Praise The Lord!
As I watched her model and take different poses of course she wanted to see after each pose and was criticizing them all. I thought oh my beautiful girl if you only saw yourself the way I do. I am her mom but I think she is absolutely beautiful.
I have always tried to instill in her what matters most and that is what you look like on the inside. It's ok to be girly girl and I love that she is, but none of that is as important as building good character. I have always tried to instill in her to be kind watch what you say, if your having a get together invite everyone, if you see someone needing help you lend a hand, if you have something always be willing to share and to put others first. I always told my children that people would remember how you treated others before they remembered what you looked like or if you had the latest trend.
If we think about it that is what Jesus is interested in, He wants to build our character. Building our character is far more important than how comfortable we are. We are put here to serve others not to live life for ourselves. As you see your children grow up you think I should have done this or that differently. I don't know about you other moms but raising my children has been the absolute hardest thing I have ever done and oh did I fail in many ways and wish I could have done things different but you have to find a way to keep moving forward.
We are officially ready for fall! My favorite season is summer, I love the beach, I love bbq's and of course all the fresh fruits and vegetables. In the south we are blessed with lots of farmers, and I am forever grateful for them. I enjoy fall, I love seeing the leaves change, love feeling the crisp air at night, hot cocoa, snuggling with a great book and anything pumpkin is a must!
